I decided it was time to do something new, something fun and completely out of my comfort zone. I decided to dive into writing fiction. And this new adventure has turned out to be thrilling.
Storytelling isn’t new to me at all. I used it as currency while teaching. The easiest way to get my students back on task and focused—especially on something they weren’t thrilled about doing—was the promise of a story afterward. If I’m honest, there was more than a time or two when I was sitting at my desk drafting up quick stories in my head just so that I’d have one ready to deliver as promised. (My students enjoyed it when I read stories aloud, but they enjoyed it even more when I shared stories I’d created myself.)
And so, here I am many, many years later working on putting stories to paper and page. And I can’t wait to get them out into the world shortly.
